The top 10 NCAA college basketball teams that did not win a championship in the 1990s. This was a difficult list to make. I am sure many will disagree with my #1 selection. On March 29, the Connecticut Huskies upset the heavily favored Duke Blue Devils 77-74 to win their first National Championship. This Duke squad had five 1st-round draft picks in Elton Brand, Shane Battier, William Avery, Trajan Langdon and Corey Maggette. The Blue Devils were dominating while blowing out their opponents by an average of 24 points a game. On the other hand, the Huskies were led by Richard Hamilton.
We all know about the college basketball powerhouses like Duke, Kentucky and North Carolina as they certainly had their moments in the 90s. This video is about the top 5 forgotten Final Four teams from the 90s. Do you remember these squads?
Top 5 Forgotten Final Four Teams From the 1990s
Thirty years ago (March 25, 1990), my favorite NCAA tournament team, the 1990 Loyola Marymount Lions, had their season end in the regional final against the powerful UNLV Runnin’s Rebels. This video is that game from 30 years ago as Vegas won 131-101. The 1990 LMU Lions scored a record 122.4 points per game in 1990. Meanwhile, UNLV would go on and win the National Championship in 1990.
The 1989-1990 LMU (Loyola Marymount University) Lions were one of my favorite teams to watch. Their 1990 NCAA Tournament game against the Michigan Wolverines was a wild one. This game set NCAA college basketball records for the most points by one team in an NCAA Tournament game and the most combined points in an NCAA Tournament game. Thank you so much for your interest in this 90s college basketball video.
The 1992 National Semifinal game between the Cincinnati Bearcats and the Michigan Wolverines, was the first Final Four game for the Fab Five. The Bearcats had future NBA players in Nick Van Exel and Cori Blount. Meanwhile, the Fab Five consisted of Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Juwan Howard, Jimmy King and Ray Jackson. The Bearcats won the Midwest Region as the #4 seed while the Michigan Wolverines won Southeast Region as the #6 seed.
The 1996 Mississippi State Bulldogs were one of my favorite NCAA Teams ever. Former Bulldogs forward Dontae’s Jones, was also one of my favorite college basketball players ever. This is one of my favorite videos that I have made on the 90s Sports Nostalgia video. I have great Nostalgia reliving the 1996 Kentucky Wildcats vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs game. Thank you for your interest in this 90s College Basketball video.
